Vivekananda Rock Memorial
Vivekananda Rock Memorial was built in honour of Swami Vivekananda who is said to have attained enlightment on the rock. According to the local legends, it was on this rock that goddess Kumari performed austerity. The Memorial stands on one of the tow rocks located about 500 metres east of main land of vavathurai, India’s southern most tip. Roughly half a Kilometre into the sea from the tapping end of the mainland, is a pair of rocks rising above the surface.
