Located in the Peren district near Dimapur, the park is famous for its dense tropical forests, rolling hills, rivers, and rare wildlife species. Originally established as a reserved forest in 1923, it became a wildlife sanctuary in 1975 and was officially declared a national park in 1993. The park spreads across approximately 202 sq km and was later declared an elephant reserve in 2005.
