Alipore Zoological Garden, popularly known as Alipore Zoo or Kolkata Zoo, is India’s oldest formally established zoological park. Established on 24 September 1875 and opened to the public in 1876, the zoo spans approximately 19 hectares in the heart of Kolkata.
