Nestled amidst the scenic mountain ranges of southern Tamil Nadu, Nellai Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the state’s newest protected wildlife areas. Established as a wildlife sanctuary in 2015, it was created to conserve the rich biodiversity and forest ecosystems of the region for future generations.
Spread across approximately 35,673.33 hectares, the sanctuary forms part of the Tirunelveli Forest Division and is characterized by dense forests, rolling hills, and breathtaking mountain landscapes. The sanctuary shares ecological connectivity with nearby tiger and grizzled squirrel habitats, making it an important conservation zone in the southern Western Ghats.
