Silent Valley National Park is one of India’s most pristine tropical evergreen rainforests, located in the Nilgiri Hills of Kerala. Declared a national park in 1984, it forms the core of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and is globally recognized for its rich biodiversity, untouched forests, rare wildlife, and ecological importance. The park became famous through the “Save Silent Valley” environmental movement, which successfully stopped a hydroelectric project and protected this fragile ecosystem.
